CityAlight, in the same structure as Hillsong, Elevation Worship, and Bethel, is a band run by a church organization. They hail from St Paul’s Castle Hill in Castle Hill, Australia. They aim to reach a larger audience with theologically accurate lyrics based on Scripture, realized in my glowing CityAlight reviews!
CityAlight released three albums and two EPs, including:
- Yours Alone (2014)
- Only a Holy God (2016)
- Yet Not I (EP; 2018)
- There is One Gospel (Live) (2022)
- Simple Songs for Young and Old (2023)
- Rise My Soul (EP, 2024)
Check out my other CityAlight reviews.

1. What message does the song communicate?
Jesus raising to live gives CityAlight the blessed assurance, that they would live with Him forever. They along with the saints that came before them hope to hear the awesome and wonderful words of God’s approval: “good and faithful servant”, signaling their entry into heaven.
Score: 10/10
2. How much of the lyrics line up with Scripture?
The song, the whole song, and nothing but the song. On second thought, scratch that last one.
[Verse 1]

Lines 3 and 4: These are the words that all Christians hope to hear post death (Matthew 25:21 and Matthew 25:23).
[Verse 2]
Lines 1-4: Many followers of Jesus lived well (Hebrews 11:1-40). Line 4 repeats Verse 1, line 4.
[Verse 3]
Lines 1-4: CityAlight lived well too. Line 4 repeats Verse 1, line 4.
[Verse 4]
Essentially repeats Verse 1.

It glorifies Christ as the One who defied death, grants everlasting life, and welcomes home those who are His.

Closing Comments
CityAlight’s Welcome Home is a simple message: Jesus rose, we can too, and faithfulness will be congratulated. These bring Him glory. Unbelievers should easily interpret this one.
This song is suitable for corporate worship.
