Delirious? is a former rock band that began in 1992. Originating as The Cutting Edge, they altered their name in 1997 and broke up in 2009.
Delirious? released eight albums and four EP’s, including:

1. What message does the song communicate?
Delirious? describes their friend Jesus, to whom they are closer than a brother or human lover. He is trustworthy when their parents are not, their only means for salvation from spiritual death, and more important than anything else.
Side Note: To those sensitive to massive repetition, The same lines repeat over and over again in Chorus’ final iteration for several minutes.

2. How much of the lyrics line up with Scripture?
The entire lyrics Biblically focuses on Jesus.

Lines 1 and 2: Quotes from Proverbs 18:24, referencing Jesus (John 15:15).
Lines 3 and 4: Delirious? describes their experience with Christ, that it’s closer than human love.

Line 1: Not just any hope! There is no other name that can save Delirious? (John 14:6 and Acts 4:12) from eternal separation (Matthew 18:8, Matthew 25:41, Matthew 25:46, Mark 9:43, Romans 6:23, Jude 1:7, and Revelation 14:11).
Line 2: He remains faithful when mom is not (2 Timothy 2:13).
Lines 3 and 4: Delirious?’ relationship with Jesus is the most important thing they possess (Philippians 3:8-10).

3. How would an outsider interpret the song?
Unbelievers will conclude that Delirious? is all about Jesus! Yes, a select few perverted minds will probably take Verse 1 the wrong way. However, most should easily conclude that Christ is Delirious?’ trusted confidant to whom Delirious? is very important.

4. What does this song glorify?
It glorifies Jesus as Delirious?’ intimate, steadfast, loving ally whom they would dread losing.

Closing Comments
Delirious?’ What a Friend I’ve Found is great. It focuses on Delirious?’ intimacy with Christ, alongside His faithfulness, lovingkindness, and hope offered to Delirious?. The Son of God is most important to Delirious?, bringing Him glory. Unbelievers should have little to no problem interpreting this song, provided that they get their heads out of the toilet.
To those not bothered by massive repetition, I highly recommend it for corporate worship.
