Fellow Bereans,
I’ve received several emails lately about donations. The Berean Test has always been ad-supported; However, I am considering creating a Patreon for gifts to replace advertising. Patreon is a subscription-based platform that allows fans to support creators financially. Should I take this route, there are a few things to keep in mind:
- Patreon takes 5% of gifts.
- Gifts will not be tax-deductible.
- There is no one-time gift option; However, supporters could subscribe for 1 month and cancel.
- The funds will be used for the following:
- Charitable giving (10% of gifts received).
- Server maintenance ($150-$200 annually).
- LLC fees ($400-500 annually).
- Advertising (10% of gifts received).
- Savings (2 years’ worth of expenses).
- Leftovers (Goes directly to Vince Wright).
- There will be seven subscription tiers: $1, $5, $10, $20, $30, $50, and $100.
- I will offer a once-a-month one-hour Zoom meeting to current and previous subscribers. This gives supporters an opportunity to meet with me directly.
I’d like to read what you think about this proposal. Is there interest in financially supporting The Berean Test? Is there a better platform to receive funding? Should I offer other incentives? Is my fund usage reasonable?

Vince,
This is something I would definitely be on board with. I deeply distrust advertising on any site, so I generally do not turn off my adblocker unless it’s interfering with a website that I need to use. I would gladly support The Berean Test through Patreon!

Neal,
Thanks! I appreciate your willingness to support this website financially.
I found out recently some things about Patreon that prevent me from using them. I’m considering Paypal as an alternative.
