Futures is an Australian Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) band.  Much in the same structure as Hillsong, Bethel Music, and Elevation Worship, they are a church-based band.  Futures Worship has seven campuses in South Australia and several others in Atlanta, Georgia.  They intend to expand into Franklin/Nashville, Tennessee.

They released four albums and two EPs, including:

  • Just the Cross (2019)
  • Reborn (EP, 2020)
  • Reborn (2020)
  • Hills & Horizons (2022)
  • Love Letters From An Empty Tomb (EP, 2022)
  • Together, With Heaven (Live, 2023)

Side Note: Regarding their live album, Together, With Heaven, the church is originally from Australia and recorded the album live in Australia and the US simultaneously. That’s right! Two countries with two worship teams recording it live all at once. The audience could even see the worship teams on stage as they had LED screens from the campuses performing as if they were all on the same stage. It’s quite an incredible undertaking!

1. What message does the song communicate?

Futures met Jesus, their Lord and Savior, who gave them undeserved favor.  Through Him, they experience triumph over hardship, joy that is lasting, and hope that cannot be found anywhere else.  Grateful for their newfound freedom, they spread the good news about Jesus to the masses through praise, song, dance, prayer, trust, and gratitude, which are all examples of obedience.

Score: 10/10

2. How much of the lyrics line up with Scripture?

The entire song is written according to God’s inspired Word.

Lyrics posted with permission.*

[Verse 1]

I met a savior that changed my whole world
Gave me a story that I need to tell
Love undeserving I know who my Father is

This aligns with Jesus’ command to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20).  The savior, Jesus (Isaiah 45:21-22, Hosea 13:4, Luke 1:47, Luke 2:11, Acts 13:23, 1 Timothy 2:3, Titus 2:13-14, and 1 John 4:14) rescued Futures, granting them grace (Genesis 15:6, Exodus 33:19, Psalm 32:1-2, Romans 3:21-24, Romans 4:3-8, Romans 5:1-2, Romans 5:6-8, Romans 5:15-21, Romans 6:14, Romans 8:1-4, Romans 9:14-16, Romans 11:5-6, Galatians 2:21, Galatians 3:6, Galatians 5:4, Ephesians 1:7, Ephesians 2:4-9, 2 Thessalonians 2:16, Titus 2:11, 1 Timothy 1:15-16, and James 2:23).

[Verse 2]

I’ve got a victory song in the fight
I’ve found a joy that will last through the night
Hope everlasting I’ll never get over this

Perseverance, proven character, joy, and hope are qualities that Futures possess from overcoming trials and tribulation (Romans 5:3-5, Hebrews 12:4-11, and James 1:2-4), sourced in Christ (Matthew 11:28-30, Romans 5:1-8, Romans 8:24-39, Romans 15:13, 1 Corinthians 15:54-58, and 1 Peter 1:3-6).

[Pre-chorus]

For all of the ways that you love me
For everything you’ve ever done

As stated in John 3:16, Romans 5:6-8, and 1 John 4:9-10).

[Chorus]

Thank you
Jesus
Your love got a hold of me
So grateful
You saved me
I’ve never felt so free

Futures thanks Jesus from the shackles of eternal damnation caused by sin into freedom of life with Him (Romans 6:1-11, Romans 7:4-6, Galatians 2:19-20, 2 Timothy 2:11, and 1 Peter 2:24).

[Tag]

I’ve never felt so free

Repeats Chorus, line 6.

[Verse 3]

You are the reason I’ll sing through the night

Essentially repeats Verse 2, line 2.

Praise is my weapon, my victory cry
Heart overflowing with all that you’ve done for me

As exampled in 2 Chronicles 20:1-30, Psalm 8:2, and Psalm 149:5-9.

[Bridge]

I’ll never stop singing
Never stop dancing
Never stop praising you
Never stop praying
Never stop believing
Never stop thanking you

These are all Futures’ acts of obedience in response to Jesus’ lovingkindness (Matthew 25:34-40, John 14:15, John 14:21-24, John 15:10-14, 1 Peter 1:14-15, 1 John 2:3-5, 1 John 4:19-20, 1 John 5:2-3, and 2 John 1:6).  They will praise Him for all eternity (Nehemiah 9:5, Psalm 30:12, Psalm 52:9, Psalm 86:12, Psalm 89:1, Psalm 115:18, Psalm 145:1-2, Psalm 145:21, and Revelation 5:9-13).

I’ll never stop singing
Never stop dancing
Never stop praising you
Never stop praying
Never stop believing
Never stop thanking you

Repeats lines 1-6.

Score: 10/10

3. How would an outsider interpret the song?

Unbelievers will immediately recognize the name of Jesus in Chorus, thinking this song is about worshipping, believing, and thanking Him for saving them. No doubt they would have already heard of Christ crucified and resurrected, so the lack of details on that momentous event does not detract from their level of understanding. The entire song is written in plain English, making it easy for them to comprehend it.

Score: 10/10

4. What does this song glorify?

It glorifies Jesus.  His salvation brings unearned restoration and liberation to Futures, bolstering them to worship Him in compliance and spread the good news of Christ to others who don’t yet know Him.

Score: 10/10

Closing Comments

Futures’ Thank You is gracious.  It provides ample space to have an attitude of gratitude, where we thank Jesus for all that He’s done for us: saving us from eternal damnation, helping us through our struggles, instilling within us a thankful heart, and calling us to tell others about Him.  These glorify Christ.  Unbelievers should have little to no issues interpreting similarly.

I highly recommend this song for corporate worship.

Final Score: 10/10

Oh yay, my home town! As a bit of history, this church was originally known as Paradise Assemblies of God / Paradise Community Church (Paradise is a suburb here in Adelaide.) It then changed its name to Influencers and expanded through some church plants. 2023 it changed to Futures.
