Passion is a home-grown worship band associated with their home church, Passion City Church. It spawned from their first Passion conference in 1997 under the banner of Choice Ministries. This was held in Atlanta Georgia. Since then, they released 23 live and studio albums.

1. What message does the song communicate?

It calls for Christians to prepare for Jesus’ second coming because He is coming soon.  We are also called to warn others because they will receive His justice when He comes again.

Side Note: To those annoyed by massive repetition, this song’s second half goes Chorus, Bridge, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus. Bridge’s second iteration repeats the first four lines four times.

Score: 10/10

2. How much of the lyrics line up with Scripture?

The whole thing is Scriptural.

Side Note: Although the referenced lyrics (see above) have a few errors in terms of when things repeat, the lyrics are essentially the same as the audio heard in the live version.  I leaned more on the audio in terms of when things repeat where.

[Verse 1]

Lines 1-5: Passion calls for all creation to follow the straight and narrow path (Matthew 7:13) because Jesus is coming back (Matthew 24:43, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Corinthians 11:26, 1 Thessalonians 5:2-4, 2 Peter 3:10, Revelation 16:15, and Revelation 19:11-16).

[Verse 2]

Lines 1 and 2: That is, the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20).

Lines 3 and 4: Every knee will bow and confess Christ is Lord (Isaiah 45:43, Romans 14:11, and Philippians 2:10-11).

Line 5: Repeats Verse 1, line 5.

[Chorus]

Lines 1-8: Everyone who is a follower of Jesus patiently waits for Christ’s triumphant return.  We are prepared when He comes (Matthew 25:1-13).

Lines 9 and 10: Repeats lines 7 and 8.

[Verse 3]

Line 1: Anyone whose name isn’t in the Book of Life is thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15).

Line 2: As stated in Revelation 21:5.

Lines 3 and 4: God’s promises will be fulfilled in His timing (2 Peter 3:9).  His Word is truth (Psalm 119:160 and John 14:6).

Line 5: Repeats Verse 1, line 5.

[Bridge]

Lines 1-4: Essentially summarizes Chorus and Verse 1, line 5.

Lines 5-8 (or 5-16, depending on iteration): Repeats lines 1-4.

Score: 10/10

3. How would an outsider interpret the song?

Unbelievers will know it’s Christian because it explicitly describes His second coming.  Passion’s language is everyday, making it easy for those outside Christianity to understand that Christians believe they will receive God’s justice if they don’t prepare for Jesus to come back.  Christians will warn them of their fate.

Score: 10/10

4. What does this song glorify?

It glorifies Jesus as the long-awaited One, who will bring justice to the unsaved and new-ness to the redeemed.  We tell others to get ready as we prepare for His return.

Score: 10/10

Closing Comments

Passion’s Even So Come is Biblical.  It calls for followers of Jesus to remain ready for Jesus’ descent back to earth, and plead with others to follow Him.  These glorify Jesus.  Unbelievers should easily interpret similarly.

This song is appropriate for corporate worship.

Final Score: 10/10
