2. How much of the lyrics line up with Scripture?
It perfectly lines up with Scripture.
This song does not contain a Verse/Chorus/Bridge structure. Therefore, I assigned stanzas to each paragraph.
[Stanza 1]
Line 1: The rest of the song makes it clear that “Son of God” references Jesus, a title that signifies His deity (Matthew 11:27, Matthew 14:33, Matthew 16:15–17, Matthew 27:43, Matthew 27:54, Mark 1:11, Mark 3:11, Mark 9:7, Mark 15:39, Luke 1:35, Luke 4:41, Luke 22:29, John 1:14-18, John 1:34, John 3:16-18, John 11:27, John 19:7, John 20:31, and Acts 9:20).
Line 2: Jesus created the universe (John 1:1-3 and Colossians 1:15-16).
Lines 3 and 4: That is, through the Holy Spirit (Acts 6:5, Romans 8:9-11, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 6:16-19, Galatians 4:6, Ephesians 5:18, and 2 Timothy 1:14).
Line 5: References Christ’s aristocracy (Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah 11:10, Micah 5:2, Matthew 2:1-6, John 12:15, John 18:37, 1 Timothy 6:13-16, Revelation 17:14, and Revelation 19:11-16).
Line 6: Proclaims Jesus’ inner beauty as revealed through His works and character. It’s not referencing outer beauty because Isaiah 53:2 prophecied that Jesus wasn’t much to look at.
[Stanza 2]
Line 1: Repeats Stanza 1, line 1.
Line 2: The Father sent Jesus for us (Matthew 10:40, Mark 9:37, Luke 9:48, Luke 10:16, John 5:23-37, John 6:39, John 7:16-33, John 8:16-29, John 9:4, John 12:45-49, John 13:20, John 14:25, John 15:21, John 16:5).
Lines 3 and 4: This connects Jesus’ word during communion, that His body was broken for us (Matthew 26:26-28, Mark 14:22-24, Luke 22:19-20, and 1 Corinthians 11:23-26), that the cross was a sort of altar for His sacrifice (Hebrews 13:10-12), and that His love drove Him to do it (John 3:16, Romans 5:6-8, and 1 John 4:9-10).
Line 5: Jesus is the Lamb that was slain (Isaiah 53:7, John 1:29, John 1:36, Acts 8:32, 1 Peter 1:19, Revelation 5:6-8, Revelation 5:12-13, Revelation 6:1, Revelation 7:9-17, Revelation 12:11, Revelation 13:8, Revelation 14:1-10, Revelation 15:3, Revelation 17:14, Revelation 19:7-9, and Revelation 21:9).
Line 6: As stated in Ephesians 1:7.
[Stanza 3]
Line 1: Jesus is holy (Mark 1:24, Luke 4:34, Acts 3:14, Acts 4:27-30, 1 John 2:20, Hebrews 7:26, and Revelation 4:8).
Line 2: Singing is how Starfield responds to Christ’s lovingkindness.
Line 3: Starfield receives God’s forgiveness through Jesus (Matthew 26:28, Act 2:38, Act 5:31, Act 10:43, Romans 4:7, Romans 5:6-8, Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:14, Colossians 2:13-14, James 5:15, James 5:19-20, 1 John 2:1-2, and 1 John 2:12).
Lines 4 and 5: Starfield repented because of God’s kindness (Romans 2:4).
[Stanza 4]
Line 1: Repeats Stanza 1, line 1.
Line 2: That is, Jesus is omnipotent (Genesis 1:1-31, Job 11:7-11, Psalm 33:6, Jeremiah 32:17, Romans 4:17, Hebrews 1:3, and Jude 1:24-25).
Lines 3 and 4: Those in darkness hate Christ’s light lest they become exposed (John 3:20).
Line 5: That is because God is love (1 John 4:8).
Line 6: See Stanza 3, lines 4 and 5.
[Stanza 5]
Line 1: Repeats Stanza 1, line 1.
Line 2: References the 300+ prophecies concerning Jesus in the Old Testament.
Lines 3 and 4: There is no other name than Jesus that can save Starfield (John 14:6 and Acts 4:12).
Lines 5 and 6: References the second coming of Christ (Matthew 24:43, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Corinthians 11:26, 1 Thessalonians 5:2-4, 2 Peter 3:10, and Revelation 16:15) as He raises Starfield up on the last day (John 6:44).
[Stanza 6]
Lines 1-3: Christ deserves praise and worship (1 Chronicles 16:25, 2 Samuel 22:4, Psalm 96:4-5, Psalm 145:3, and Revelation 4:11).
[Stanza 7]
Lines 1-3: Combines Stanza 1, line 6 with Stanza 7, lines 1-3.
Score: 10/10
3. How would an outsider interpret the song?
Despite its heavy reliance on Christianese language, I can’t think of a single line that unbelievers would misunderstand based on a rudimentary understanding of Christianity. The word “Jesus” and the phrase “Son of God” contextualizes the entire song as Christian.
Score: 10/10
4. What does this song glorify?
It glorifies Jesus through His many attributes, wonders, and love for us shown on the cross.
Score: 10/10
Closing Comments
Starfield’s Son of God is awesome. It lists a plethora of acts and properties of Jesus, including His lovingkindness shown on the cross to make forgiveness possible. This glorifies God. These Christian terminology-heavy lyrics should be understandable to unbelievers without much deeper study.
I highly recommend this song for corporate worship.
Final Score: 10/10

That’s true as far as His first coming is concerned, but when we see the King in His glory… Psalm 45:2
This Psalm might’ve inspired line 5 as well.
